GPS models compatibility
The Garmap Africa series 2009 product set is compatible with Garmin map-enabled GPS units with a memory capacity of at least 16MB. The functionality is dependant on the GPS device being used and users must note that not all the functions & features described are supported on all models. As an example, DEM (Digital Elevation Model) maps can only be displayed on devices that are DEM capable e.g. Oregon 300, nüvi 1300 etc.
Legacy map-capable Garmin GPS units produced before 2006 must use the NON-NT maps, which are not traffic enabled. These units include:

The software will determine from your input which unit it is, and install the correct software type (i.e. NON-NT or TMC). All traffic enabled units should have the TMC (Traffic Message Channel) version installed automatically.
All Garmap products are licensed for use with a single Garmin GPS unit only.
Limitations
Auto-routing and Places of Interest (POI) search capability are only available on auto-routing and search-capable Garmin GPS units.
Installation Instructions
Users will require an Internet connection and the DVD to do map upgrades. The DVD has been supplied with an autorun sequence that will open a web Browser and provide step-by-step installation & registration instructions. There are also Installation Instructions printed on the DVD cover.
Free Upgrades
Users who purchased the previous map set, namely Garmap Africa Series 2009 on or after 1 July 2009 or who purchased their Garmin GPS unit on or after 1 July 2009 will be eligible for a free upgrade to the latest version of the equivalent map. If a user does not qualify for a free upgrade, they will have the option of purchasing the selected product online. The upgrade and online purchase processes are facilitated with the DVD and an Internet connection is required. Using the DVD during the upgrade / purchase process will save the downloading of large amounts of data, as all relevant data is contained on the DVD.

Garmap Southern Africa Streetmaps 2009 - 2nd Edition Update

This map set includes the routable tar and gravel road network detail for 10 countries in Southern Africa and now also includes Angola. The included countries are as follows: Angola (AO), Botswana (BW), Lesotho (LS), Malawi (MW), Mozambique (MZ), Namibia (NA), South Africa (ZA), Swaziland (SZ), Zambia (ZM) & Zimbabwe (ZW).

Southern Africa Streets DEM - 2nd Edition Update
Product Description:
The Digital Elevation Modelling (DEM) version of Southern Africa Streetmaps gives an enhanced 3D-effect to the maps when used on a compatible product (please check with your supplier or Avnic for a list of compatible models). This product includes the full street map data from Southern Africa Streetmaps, combined with elevation shading information and 200m contours.

Users will require an Internet connection and the DVD to do map upgrades. Please note that there are two versions 1) the Upgrade version for R9 and 2) the Coupon version for R349.
The Upgrade version of the DVD does not include a licence to unlock any of the map products. Licences can be purchased on-line from the Garmap web site (www.garmap.co.za) using the DVD, which then contains all the data required and saves users from having to download large files.
The Coupon version costs R349 and includes a licence to unlock any of the map upgrades costing R349 (see table below). Registration though still requires internet access. The Coupon DVD contains all the data required and saves users from having to download large files.
