Easy to use, just slip it into your pocket and take it along on your next adventure - and then let it guide you to where you want to go, safely. The Dakota 20 has many advanced features such as altimeter and 3-axis compass, expandable memory and waypoint transfer.

Exciting and Reliable Navigation

• The Dakota has a 10 000 trackpoint tracklog. In other words it will create a track of where you have been. You can view this track on the Dakota and track back to where you started.
• You can store up to 200 tracks on the Dakota. You can load these tracks to your computer and view them on a map. You can also load tracks that others have created onto the gps.
• If you want to go somewhere and you want to stop at various places, you can create a route with all your stops along the way. You can then ask it to find the shortest route to from start to finish, if you prefer. You can save up to 50 such routes for future use. This is a real time and fuel saver.
• The Dakota 20 will navigate on the road with a minimum of fuss. Just type in your where you want to go, and it will take you there by showing the route on the screen. It beeps multiple times to warn you of an approaching turn.
• If the traffic on the highway gets too much, you can ask the Dakota to avoid highways. You can also ask it to avoid toll roads if you prefer.
• What happens if you take a short-cut or even the wrong turn? The Dakota will automatically create a new route (re-route) for you. No mess, no fuss.
• The Dakota will allow you to preview the route it is going to take before you even leave, so that you can confidently see where it is going to take you.
• Once you have been to a place there is no need to remember the address again, just store it as a favourite, and navigate back to it at any time. You can store up to 1000 favourites.

Amazing Outdoor Features

• It is light-weight (149 grams with batteries - about the same as an apple) and fits in the palm of your hand. That together with the touch-screen allows for comfortable one-handed operation.
• As you can see in the picture, the bright touch screen is easy to see on this unit 6.6cm (2.6 inch) diagonal, making it  comfortable to use, day or night - with backlighting on.
• You do not have to worry about the weather with it being water-proof and also dustproof.
• Deep in a donga? Dont worry about satellite reception, with it's high sensitivity antenna the Dakota will not dissapoint you.
• The built-in electronic compass gives you bearing while standing still. A tilt-compensated 3-axis compass means that you do not have to hold the unit in a horizontal position for the compass to work. A real advantage when using the Dakota together with a paper map.
• The barometric altimeter is useful for watching both height above sea level and atmospheric pressure. Climbers and sailors may find this feature very useful.
• For all those Geocaching fans out there, this gps is ready for the adventure. Just download the cache from geocaching.com and go.

Other Good Stuff

• You can share your waypoints and other information wirelessly with someone who also has an Oregon or Dakota.
• Are you a someone that needs to calculate areas e.g. a farmer? The Dakota can do it easily.
• It has a fully searcheable sun and moon table as well as a hunt and fish calendar.
• You can load a large selection of maps on you Dakota including Garmap’s range of street, shaded elevation (DEM) and topographical maps for Southern Africa or MapSource street maps of Europe, USA etc. We can supply and install these maps for you, just ask for a quote.
• It is equipped with 850MB of main memory, which can further be expanded by using a micro-SD card up to 2GB.
• The Dakota will operate for up to 20 (twenty) hours on a pair of AA batteries - ordinary or rechargeable.
• You can connect a heart-rate monitor and/or a cadence sensor to monitor your biking or running adventures.
• The Dakota will communicate with your computer via the included USB cable. Download favourites, routes, tracks and maps.
