The Super Smooth Garmin nuvi 1310 - Slick, fast and Bluetooth!

Thin, slim with Bluetooth - that's the new nuvi 1310. Twenty five percent thinner than it's previous nuvi cousins means that you can take this one anywhere comfortably, and take calls while driving.

Traffic Service

The 1310 can optionally be fitted with a traffic receiver antenna - see accessories. Traffic information is received by the gps and an icon appears on the screen notifying you about the expected delay. You may then instruct the nuvi to calculate an alternative route to avoid the congestion. A one-year subscription is also included, that can be renewed annually. This service is currently only available in Gauteng, but will be rolled out to other major centres shortly.

Great New Slick Interface

Garmin have gone one further with their new icons and user interface. All the icons are 3D and easy to read and understand. The "speedo" is large and obvious, and the map pannning is much better. The map does not stop dead when you lift your finger, but smoothly scrolls on. Nice one Garmin!

Solid Garmin Navigation

The nuvi 1310 will get you there with a minimum of fuss. Just type in your where you want to go, and it will take you there by showing the route on the screen and also talking you through the turns. This nuvi speaks street names, making it so much easier to know where to turn.

The ecoRoute features saves you fuel and money by suggesting the most economical way to drive. It also allows you to calculate the cost of a journey.

If the traffic on the highway gets too much, you can ask the nuvi to avoid highways. You can also ask it to avoid toll roads if you prefer.

What happens if you take a short-cut or even the wrong turn? The nuvi will automatically create a new route for you. No mess, no fuss.

The nuvi will allow you to see the route it is going to take before you even leave, so that you can confidently see where it is going to take you. And once you are driving, the trip computer page will give you the speed, kilometres travelled, fuel cost, time and distance to destination. You can also choose to display one of the following on the map page; distance to destination, estimated time to destination, estimated time of arrival, direction of travel, elevation or time of day.

Once you have been to a place there is no need to remember the address again, just store it as a favourite, and navigate back to it at any time. Setting the "home" feature will get you to that place at the touch of a button.

You can take your nuvi out of the car for up to four hours to tour the sights of any place. You can use it in automobile, pedestrian or bicycle mode. The pedestrian mode allows you to walk the wrong way up one-way streets for example.

For your convenience you can choose a route that is fastest or shortest or uses less fuel. The nuvi 1310 can also draw a straight line to your destination. Useful if the destination is off the street. You can optionally display the trip log of where you have been.

Bluetooth Hands-free Cell Phone Calls

This is how it works: The nuvi connects to your cell phone by Bluetooth. When a call comes through, an icon appears on the screen that allows you to either accept or reject the call. The caller’s voice comes through the nuvi’s built-in speaker, and your voice is sent via the nuvi’s built-in microphone. If the nuvi is busy with a route at the time, the voice directions are muted for the call, however the directions are still displayed on the nuvi screen. As easy as that!

Have Fun Getting to Places

Worried about speed-traps and hi-jack spots? You can download the latest road hazards and safety camera positions to your nuvi from www.Garmap.co.za free of charge. We will load them for you anyway, at no extra charge.

Do you want to know where the nearest hospital, police station, petrol station or intersection is in a hurry? The "Where Am I?" feature will give this information instantly. Of course, you get thousands of such Points of Interest (POI's) plus more, such as restaurants, garages, airports, accommodation, shopping centers, ATM's, parking areas, entertainment, recreation, attractions, hospitals and more with your Garmin nuvi 1310.

You can download places to go to, and their pictures, from Garmin Connect Photos. You can use this information (also known as geotagged or location-tagged photos) to go to these places. That means that you can see the place before you decide to travel there.

You could also load your own pictures onto the nuvi and display them on the picture viewer, that has pan, zoom and slide show functions.

If You Ever Lose The nuvi

Worried about your Garmin being stolen? Well you can pin lock this GPS. Every time you switch on, you will be asked for a pin code. What happens if you forget the code? Just take the nuvi back to where you set the code in the first place and the nuvi 1310 will unlock itself.

Lots More Features

You can load a large selection of maps on you nuvi 1310 including Garmap's range of street and topographical maps for Southern Africa. This nuvi can handle DEM or shaded topo maps as well. You can optionally load MapSource street maps of Europe, USA etc. We can supply and install these maps for you, just ask for a quote.

Apart from the approx 900MB on-board memory, the unit can take up to 2GB of extra memory on a microSD card. This is useful for loading extra maps and pictures.

You can change the vehicle on the screen to a raunchy 4x4, smart street car, superbike or many other amazing vehicles.

If you travel overseas, you can set up to 3 time zones anywhere in the world. You could also use the unit converter to convert distance or weight. For example convert inches to cm, or pounds to kilograms, and so on. You can also convert from one currency to another e.g. Rands to Dollars, etc. The built-in calculator can be used for those quick calculations you may need to make.

The gps allows you to change the on-screen keyboard format to either Alphabetic or QWERTY, whatever is most comfortable for you.

The fundis at Garmin have made this nuvi very fast at picking up satellites so you do not have to wait for it to "warm up", and it will adjust for the time-zone that you are in automatically.
