Garmin zumo 660 Europe - Your Constant Riding Companion!
There with you all the way - that's the zumo 660. This large, glove friendly unit will get you to where you want to be whether on your bike or in the car.
Traffic Service
The 660 can optionally be fitted with a traffic receiver antenna - see accessories. Traffic information is received by the gps and an icon appears on the screen notifying you about the expected delay. You may then instruct the nuvi to calculate an alternative route to avoid the congestion. A one-year subscription is also included, that can be renewed annually. This service is currently only available in Gauteng, but will be rolled out to other major centres shortly.
Solid, Reliable Navigation
The zumo 660 will get you there effortlessly. Just type in your where you want to go, and it will take you there by showing the route on the screen and also talking you through the turns. This zumo speaks street names, making it so much easier to know where to turn.
If the traffic on the highway gets too much, you can ask the zumo to avoid highways. You can also ask it to avoid toll roads if you prefer.
What happens if you take a short-cut or even the wrong turn? The zumo will automatically create a new route for you. No mess, no fuss.
The zumo will allow you to see the route it is going to take before you even leave, so that you can confidently see where it is going to take you. And once you are driving, the trip computer page will give you a compass, the speed, kilometers travelled, time and distance to destination, etc. You can choose what you want to display on the trip page.
Once you have been to a place there is no need to remember the address again, just store it as a favourite (up to 1000), and navigate back to it at any time. Setting the "home" feature will get you to that place at the touch of a button.
You can use your zumo for up to five hours on battery power alone.
For your convenience you can choose a route that is fastest or shortest. The zumo 660 can also draw a straight line to your destination. Useful if the destination is off the street.
You can download places to go to, and their pictures, from Garmin Connect Photos. You can use this information (also known as geotagged or location-tagged photos) to go to these places. That means that you can see the place before you decide to travel there.
If you want to go somewhere and you want to stop at various places, you can create a route with all your stops along the way. You can then ask it to find the shortest (optimal) route to from start to finish, if you prefer. This is great for persons like reps that need to see many customers and want the gps to tell them the best route to get to all of them. You can save 20 such routes for future use (more can be stored on the optional microSD card). This is a real time and fuel saver.
This zumo also has has a tracklog. That means that you can see where you have been, and that is essential in off-road situations. When you want to get back to where you were, just ask the nuvi to TracBack. You can also load the track onto your computer and view it on your maps (if installed), or even on Google Earth.
Advanced Display Options
An electronic petrol guage may be displayed, with kilometers to empty and the ability to set the reserve point.
The map page may be customised with two dislay fields of your choice. The trip computer page displays the speed, time and distance to destination, and much more that you can choose from. It has a compass on it too!
Bluetooth Hands-free Cell Phone Calls
This is how it works: The zumo connects to your cell phone by Bluetooth. When a call comes through, an icon appears on the screen that allows you to either accept or reject the call. On the bike, the caller's voice comes through the zumo's bluetooth to your headset, and vice versa. In the car, the caller's voice comes through the mounting speaker and your voice is sent via the mounting's built-in microphone. If the zumo is busy with a route at the time, the voice directions are muted for the call, however the directions are still displayed on the zumo screen. Brilliant.
Know what's going on around you
Worried about speed-traps and hi-jack spots? You can download the latest road hazards and safety camera positions to your zumo from www.Garmap.co.za free of charge. If you prefer we can load them for you, at no extra charge.
Do you want to know where the nearest hospital, police station, petrol station or intersection is in a hurry? The "Where Am I?" feature will give this information instantly. Of course, you get thousands of such Points of Interest (POI's) plus more, such as restaurants, garages, accommodation, airports, … with your Garmin zumo 660.
The well-known Google Earth and Panoramio web-sites have pictures with their location that you can download. You can use this information (also known as geotagged photos) to go to these places. That means that you can see the place before you decide to travel there.
If The zumo is Stolen
Worried about your Garmin being stolen? Well you can pin lock this GPS. Every time you switch on, you will be asked for a pin code. In case the zumo is stolen, not even Garmin can crack this code, so the gps becomes unusable. What happens if you forget the code? Just take the zumo back to where you set the code in the first place and the zumo 660 will unlock itself.
Loads More Stuff
You can load a large selection of maps on you zumo 660 including Garmap's range of street and topographical maps for Southern Africa or MapSource street maps of Europe, USA etc. We can supply and install these maps for you, just ask for a quote.
Listen to your favourite music using the built-in MP3 player, or take in the latest book by means of the Audio book player.
Switch between an alphabetic or a QWERTY keyboard depending on your preference.
You can change the vehicle on the screen to a raunchy 4x4, smart street car, superbike or many other amazing vehicles.
If you travel overseas, you can set up to 3 time zones anywhere in the world. You could also use the unit converter to convert distance or weight. For example convert inches to cm, or pounds to kilograms, and so on.
You could also load your own pictures onto the nuvi and display them on the picture viewer, that has pan, zoom and slide show functions.
The fundis at Garmin have made this zumo very fast at picking up satellites so you do not have to wait for it to "warm up".
