Warranty
All GARMIN products (excluding software) carry a full 12 month warranty on workmanship as given and worded by GARMIN. Please retain your invoice as proof of payment - in the event of a warranty claim - we will require it.
Unfortunately we cannot accept ANY returns on ANY software, downloaded or purchased on CD. This includes e-maps, data, or any other software. This is because the software is locked to your GPS and thus becomes unusable to anyone else.
On-line Security
We did our homework and have selected iVeri from Nedbank as our payment security partner to handle all security issues during your shopping experience at Techshop through the highly secure iVeri payment store system.
At Techshop, your details are kept off of the Internet, on a secured database at iVeri directly. The data itself is even encrypted so that given the highly unlikely event that a hacker would be able to somehow access this database, the data would be useless to him as it would all be scrambled in a way that only iVeri payment and the banks can interpret.
The following points demonstrate the measures taken by iVeri for Techshop to ensure your security at all times above and beyond the already secure standard SSL encryption:
1. All merchants trading in iVeri, including Techshop, are approved by iVeri and are businesses that you can trust.
2 . Techshop's iVeri payment store has been approved by the banks.
3 . Techshop never keep your credit card details. Your details are sent to the bank by iVeri for authorisation in highly encrypted format. Techshop receives authorisation from the bank and not any of your credit card details.
4 . Security is also ensured on payment sites bearing SSL certificates. iVeri uses the VeriSign Trust Network certificate authority to secure all transactions via SSL with RC4 128 bit encryption.
How do hackers claim to be able to access credit card numbers?
Any unscrupulous individual can obtain your credit card details via traditional means if you are not careful; criminals often pose as a representative of a reputable company over the phone and obtain your credit card details from you directly or simply by rummaging through rubbish bins for credit card receipts. It’s as simple as that.
Hackers, however, obtain credit card details by hacking or "cracking" into sites of companies that have not taken basic security precautions in storing your credit card information. The reported cases of hackers accessing credit card details have been from sites keeping credit card details in an unsecured database accessible via the Internet, often with the credit card information stored as plain text instead of encrypted.
Both Visa and MasterCard confirm there has been no instance of encrypted data being intercepted on the Internet, successfully decrypted and used to commit fraud.
Hackers can also use spyware on a customer's computer to obtain credit card information. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that their computer is protected from viruses and other spyware. The minimum requirement would be an industry standard anti-spywear software program loaded onto the customer's computer*.
Who is liable?
You are not liable for fraud. Remember, should an unauthorised charge be made to your Visa or MasterCard credit card, you are not liable for this charge. Please consult your bank for more details on Visa and MasterCard’s policies on fraudulent transactions.
How do I know it's safe to submit my payment details?
First of all, know who you are doing business with. Make sure the site advertises their contacting details including telephone numbers and other means apart from e-mail in order to contact or even visit them. There are unscrupulous merchants on the Internet, just as there are in the traditional world.
Secondly, ensure that you are using a secure SSL encrypted connection to the Internet. When payment is made the "Address" should begin with "https://" instead of "http://" The extra "s" means that you are using a secure connection. SSL encryption scrambles your credit card details during transmission over the Internet and prevents it from being read by "hackers." There has not been one single report of hackers intercepting encrypted data, decrypting it and using it to commit credit card fraud.
Also make sure that the address you see is that of a service provider or business that you trust.
